Volunteer to support the stock management and purchasing team at Besom Foodbank (SH)

The Besom in Camberley (SH)

We are looking for a volunteer to join the team overviewing weekly stocks of fresh food, frozen food, tins/packets and non-food resources at the warehouse.  

 You need to be willing to undertake shopping to maintain shop levels using agreed Besom finance. 

You need to place orders for produce to suppliers using both phone and IT.

Camberley Besom receives referrals from a range of local authority departments and charitable groups to support individuals in need. Volunteers pack food and non-food resources at the Besom Warehouse four days a week. Each day is led by a Shift Lead.  Volunteer drivers deliver packages to the home of those requiring support. Members of public do not have access to the warehouse.

What skills do I need?

You need to be a team player with good communication skills to support with:

·        Making orders with suppliers over phone

·        Make orders using IT

·        Reporting monthly to Besom Trustee with daily direction from shift leads.

 You should be numerate:

  • To be able to supply details for two references

You will require a clean driving licence and vehicle for shopping.

Be able to climb stairs to storage area on first floor of warehouse.

Be able to safely move stock on warehouse shelving.

You would visit the warehouse twice a week between 10.00 and 12 noon on Monday (or Tuesday) and Friday.

Occasionally to visit on Wednesday afternoon to coordinate with other stock team members.
