Veteran Support Volunteer

Royal British Legion - Oxted & District Branch (VASE)

About Us

The Royal British Legion (RBL) Oxted Branch promotes and delivers against the RBL’s charitable objects of providing support and help to serving and former members of the Armed Forces, and their families, and remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Under the lead of our Poppy Appeal Organiser, we raise money for the charity each year (£35,000 in 2025).

Time to Spare? Do you want to help and support us?

If you have some spare time and would like to help this worthwhile charitable cause, your presence and input into the Branch and our activities would be very welcome.

We are looking for individuals who will be able to help and support us to fulfil our mission. You don’t have to be ex-Service, just have a passion and interest in being part of a team.

What do our Volunteers help us with?

We would welcome some help with the coordination of events and activities, administration (including minute-taking and secretarial duties), book-keeping, marketing, PR, recruiting, or generally collecting for charity at public events.

One specific role we have is leading the provision of basic, local support to our Veterans in need through telephone calls, home or hospital visits. All major casework is conducted at Head Office level BUT regular human contact with a friendly face and a listening ear can be life changing for our Veterans. Can you help us provide that?"

Volunteer roles are unpaid, although all travel expenses can be reimbursed. Applicants must be over the age of 18 and of good character and met eligibility criteria specified by the Charities Act.
