Join our compassionate team of befrienders supporting isolated adults across Runnymede. Whether sharing a cuppa, reminiscing over shared interests, or simply being a consistent friendly presence, you’ll make a profound difference to someone’s wellbeing.

Your Role Includes:
• Weekly 1-hour visits/chat (in-person or phone)
• Matched with someone sharing your interests
• Providing companionship through life’s transitions
• Flexible commitment around your schedule

Who We Help:
People experiencing loneliness due to:
✓ Retirement or bereavement
✓ New parenthood or relocation
✓ Health challenges
✓ Starting university later in life

What skills do I need?

You’ll Receive:
✔ Full training on active listening
✔ Ongoing support from coordinators
✔ Travel expenses (for in-person befriending)
✔ The joy of making a genuine connection

No Special Skills Required – Just:
• A friendly, patient attitude
• Good listening skills
• Reliability (minimum 6 months preferred)

Skills You’ll Develop:
This rewarding role naturally builds your emotional intelligence, communication skills and understanding of social isolation. Many befrienders find the shared conversations enrich their own lives as much as their befriendees.
