Supported Lodgings Host (VSNS)

Step by Step is seeking compassionate and resilient individuals or families to become Supported Lodgings Hosts for young people aged 16–21 who are at risk of homelessness.

As a host, you'll provide a spare room in your home and a safe, supportive environment where a young person can build confidence, learn vital life skills, and prepare for independent living. This isn’t just about offering accommodation — it's about offering stability, guidance, and care at a crucial time in a young person’s life.

You’ll help with day-to-day learning like budgeting, cooking, and navigating adult responsibilities, while also being someone they can trust and look up to.

If you're passionate about helping young people and have space in both your home and heart, this could be a life-changing role — for both of you.

Full training, ongoing support, and allowances are provided. Applicants will need to undergo safeguarding checks.

What skills do I need?

We’re looking for people who:

• Have a spare room and a welcoming home environment
• Enjoy the company of young people and can build trust
• Are patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental
• Can provide guidance in life skills like budgeting, cooking, and communication
• May have personal or professional experience supporting young people
• Are willing to take on a meaningful challenge with long-term impact.
