Visual Guide Volunteer for Include Choir Session

About Include and the choir

Include is a charity whose aim is to improve the lives and rights of those with speaking and communication disabilities.  These sometimes come without disabilities too.  We provide invaluable services to many people in Surrey whatever their ability and one of those is an inclusive choir in Merstham.

What you will be doing.

You will be supporting a gentleman who is visually impaired as a sighted guide during the choir session in Redhill.  You will support him to interact with the session and other members, navigate hazards during break and generally support him to be included in the session.

As a volunteer at the session, you will be able to learn Makaton sign alongs with a range of popular songs to enjoy.  You do not need to be a singer or musician, just an enjoyment of music and people enjoying music.

What skills do I need?

• Experience visual impairment an advantage but not a necessity as training and support will be given.
• Good communication skills
• The ability to have fun
• Firm but friendly approach
• Good communication and social skills.

Choir is held every Wednesday evening 7:30 till 9pm at Lime Tree School, Merstham.
