Dorking Museum and Heritage Centre (CSVA)
Dorking Museum has extensive archive collections of photos, postcards, maps, oral histories, parish and organisational records, newspapers and ephemera and provides information and copies of documents to enquirers from all over the World. A dedicated teams of volunteers undertakes all cataloguing, collections care and runs an enquiry service. We are looking for an experienced archivist to share their expertise to support the team. The primary role is to train volunteers in basic cataloguing and collections care skills, as well as undertaking some cataloguing and supporting the volunteers working on enquiries.
This is an opportunity to work with a team of enthusiastic people who are committed to communicating the history of the area.
We are looking for a person who has professional archiving experience and who is familiar with the standards required for small accredited museums and able to communicate to others and support them in learning. An organised person with the ability to work in a team is vital.

The archive team are able to work outside normal museum hours so the hours are flexible, to suit the availability of volunteers and the applicant. The ideal commitment would be a regular slot once a week, but more or less is possible
