The Penrose Club for Adults with Special Needs (SP)
Volunteers are needed to help adults with learning difficulties to have an enjoyable social evening once a week. The club meets on a Tuesday evening in Ashford and volunteers are needed from about 7 - 9.30pm.
The Penrose Club (named after its founder) is social club for adults (over 16) with special needs. About half the members live at home with their families, so the evening also gives their carers break. The club is very popular, with over 70 members typically attending.
Activities include: Arts and crafts, team games, quizzes, bingo, dance, music & drama, films shows and talent evenings, plus seasonal parties and occasional day trips in the summer.
This opportunity will involve a DBS check.
Volunteers should be friendly, good listeners, able to mix and with a good sense of humour. They must respect all members. No special qualifications are needed but art or drama skills would be a bonus.
