Home Visiting Volunteer (RB)

Home-Start East Surrey (RB)

We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to visit families in their own home once a week for 2-3 hours, offering non-judgmental and confidential emotional and practical support to local families with young children.

Our volunteers work with families who are facing many different challenges, which may include physical or mental health issues, financial hardship, isolation, family breakdown, or struggling with children’s behavior.

Volunteers may support a family for a few weeks or up to an average of 6 months, enabling them to develop resilience and move on positively with their lives.  The only real qualifications that we ask for is that volunteers are either parents themselves, or have parenting experience, have a positive, supportive attitude and an understanding of the pressures of parenting.

Full training and ongoing support will be given to all volunteers, and includes various social volunteer events.

Our next Home-Start volunteer preparation course will be held in our offices in Redhill, and is scheduled to commence on Wednesday 21st January 2026 to 26th March 2026.

What skills do I need?

Volunteers need to be parents themselves or to have had parenting experience.  All our volunteers are required to complete a nine-week preparation course (1 day per week) before they can work with a family and will receive ongoing support from a Home-Start Co-ordinator.

This opportunity is based out in the community working one to one with families.
