Befriender for Older People (EP)

Age Concern Epsom & Ewell (CSVA)

This is a very rewarding opportunity to provide much needed companionship and social contact for an isolated older person in your local community. You will be matched with a client and visit them in their own home for around an hour once a week for a chat and maybe a cuppa. If appropriate you may accompany the client on a short walk.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for a good communicator, reliable, trustworthy, patient and sensitive with an interest in older people and empathy with their needs and understand the importance of confidentiality.

We hope you will be able to volunteer for at least 6 months, visiting regularly (preferably once a week, apart from holidays etc) to provide continuity for your client and to build the relationship over time.
