Animal Care Volunteers (SH)

Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue (SH)

Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue is a busy emergency wildlife hospital caring for everything from tiny dormice to deer, operating all year round. As an Animal Care Volunteer, you’ll become a valued part of our hands-on team, helping with daily care, cleaning, and feeding routines while keeping stress to a minimum for our wild patients.

You don’t need prior wildlife experience—just a genuine commitment, willingness to learn, and love for animals. Volunteers must be 18+ with their own transport, as the site is in a rural location.

You’ll receive guidance and training and be part of a supportive and experienced team. Every task helps us rescue, rehabilitate, and release animals back into the wild.

Age is no barrier - we have volunteers ranging for 18  to 85, with all levels of experience and background.

We have a wide range of procedures that need to be carried out every day so we ask for commitment at least one morning and/or one afternoon a week on a regular day or you can commit to a full day, or a full week but commitment is important as we will be relying on you.

What skills do I need?

An interest in wildlife is useful for this position.

Have own transport to reach the shelter (quite remote).

Be punctual and reliable.  Arrive on time and commit to the work

Carry out your work eagerly and accept our guidance, decisions and changes, we have been doing this a long time and putting wildlife first means changes can be fast and furious but most importantly essential.
