Allotment Volunteer

Love me Love My Mind (CSVA)

Love Me Love My Mind is a small registered charity based in Epsom Surrey which aims to promote better understanding of mental health and to support the well-being of everyone in the community.

Role Purpose

To help maintain the allotment plot as a welcoming, productive, and therapeutic "green sanctuary." You will work alongside other volunteers to grow vegetables, fruit, and flowers, fostering a sense of achievement and wellbeing through horticulture.

Main Responsibilities

  • General Gardening: Assist with seasonal tasks such as digging, weeding, sowing seeds, planting out, and watering.
  • Site Maintenance: Help keep paths clear, maintain sheds/tools, and ensure the plot is safe and accessible for all.
  • Side-by-Side Support: Garden alongside care home staff, residents and families, offering a friendly chat and a helping hand to those who may be new to gardening.
  • Harvesting: Help gather produce to be used in the care home kitchen and shared among the volunteers or taken to be used in community meals.

What skills do I need?

  • Physical Ability: Comfortable with light-to-moderate physical activity outdoors (tasks can be adapted to suit different physical needs).

  • Love for the Outdoors: Happy to volunteer in various weather conditions (within reason!).

What’s in it for you?
